Dutile School

Frederick J. Dutile was a very active member of the town in the 1950s and early 1960s. He headed the committee to secure land and create a playground in the River Pines area of West Billerica. He passed on January 26, 1963.

In 1964, Article 53 was put forth to build a school on that same playground land. By the end of the year, the town warrant was already posted on the building. In 1965, the school officially opened with Dr. Elizabeth F. McCarthy as the principal, a post she held until 1993.
